# Signed → Order → Contract

> What runs after signing, what the quote needs beforehand and what to check if a step fails.

Tally Sign University › [Revenue Cloud](https://sign.gettally.io/university/revenue-cloud)

## What runs

When the last person signs, Tally Sign runs the steps you turned on, in order:

1. The quote's Status is set to **Accepted**.
2. The signed PDF is saved to the quote's Files.
3. An order is created from the quote.
4. The order is submitted and activated.
5. Assets are created or updated from the order.
6. A contract is created.
7. The signed PDF is saved to the new order and contract.
8. The sender gets a bell notification.

*Each step appears in the Activity tab, prefixed with Salesforce.*

Open the new records from the menu next to **View signed PDF**: **Open order** and **Open contract**.

## Before you send: what the quote needs

- The Quote **Status** picklist has an **Accepted** value.
- The quote has a **Bill To Contact** and billing and shipping addresses. Revenue Cloud copies them to the order.
- Prices are up to date. If the quote shows **The prices aren't up to date**, choose **Reprice All** before sending.
- Every quote line has a start proration period (**Period Boundary**). Lines without it can't be repriced.
- Orders are enabled, and the user Tally Sign connects as can create and activate orders and contracts.
- For **Create a contract**, turn on the steps before it; each step needs the one before.

> **Why it matters:** Tally Sign uses your org's own Revenue Cloud actions, so the same rules apply as when a person clicks Create Order.

## If a step fails

A failed step shows in the component's **Activity** tab, for example: **Salesforce: couldn't create the order — We couldn't create the order because the prices aren't updated. Click Reprice All and try again.**

![An Envelope record whose activity shows a failed order step followed by the order and contract being created](https://sign.gettally.io/university/revenue-cloud/envelope-error.png)

*The failed attempts, then the successful run after the prices were fixed.*

1. Read the message. It comes straight from Salesforce.
2. Fix the cause on the quote, for example choose **Reprice All**.
3. Wait for the next retry. Steps that already worked aren't repeated.

| Retry | When |
| --- | --- |
| 1st | 1 minute after the failure |
| 2nd | 5 minutes later |
| 3rd | 30 minutes later |
| 4th | 2 hours later |
| 5th | 12 hours later |

> **Note:** On the Envelope record, **Lifecycle Log** lists every step with its time, and **Last Error** holds the most recent problem. **Created Order** and **Created Contract** link to the new records.

> **Watch out:** Some errors can't be fixed by trying again, such as a validation rule that always fails. Those stop retrying. Fix the setup, then send a new document.
